Saw your g-friend Sarah Harmer perform her lovely music in Memphis last night, and she dedicated a couple songs to your boat and your cause. A score of collective prayers went out to y’all during her show. Enjoy the moonlight! Paddle on!!

I meet you in Vicksburg at your departure. There was/is another boater of interest the CG called me about. I really enjoyed meeting you and the crew! Enjoy the day!

    Sarah,
This is not a pleasant note for me to send. I am the mother of one of the men you hung out with in Memphis. His name is Kris Shields, the sailor of Maya. He is in a bit of a pickle and I thought I would see if there are anyone people you have touched on the way who could help him out.

He is in vicksburg or should I say short of vicksburg. He actually was in a safezone when he was abruptly pushed to the banks of rocks by a boater who says he works for the coast guard, the barge company and the Sheriff. this was to my amazement. He actually can walk from the top of his boat to the rocks. The Hull may be taking some damage.

He contacted the coast guard to ask for them to remove him from the rocks. They said yes then no then yes then no, now they have left it to their discretion of whether or not it is seaworthy.

His spiritual trek may come to an end if we don’t help him. financially we cannot at this point get him a motor nor find anyone who would take the risk of liability to remove him from the rocks.

I know you said you would love to just sail for awhile like he had chosen to do. His peace has been disrupted by cruilty of humanity and I would love for him to continue his journey to find more of and share his spiritual beliefs.

my email is gailayres@yahoo.com if anyone who is in the area or knows someone who can help, please type in KRIS as the subject. Thank you for your time.

good luck on your journey as well.

    Gail Ayres
